I really did enjoy this book but found there was something missing in the development of the relationship between Amy and Liam. I can't quite put my finger on it, but perhaps it was because the prologue gave away the ending, so while we still had to see how the got there, it didn't have the suspense that Bella's other books have had. It could also have been that the relationship between Amy and Liam just happened - there wasn't really any build up which I didn't like. I'll still read the next book as I want to see what happens but I couldn't give it 5 stars.

I was already a major fan of Bella's first series (Shade of Vampire), so when the notice came out that she had ANOTHER book series starting, I couldn't get to my fast enough! Once again, she blew me away! After reading tons of "paranormal/vampire romance" books out there, we all know how much they can start to blend together and sound the same. NOT THIS ONE! Bella comes from a totally new and creative perspective with this story! The introduction of her main character, Amy, had me sitting with my mouth gaping open. Talk about a twist! A heroine with a fatal disease and a limited lifeline - whoa! Wasn't expecting that AT ALL. She was a TRUE heroine - no whining, no complaining - real strength! Add to that the way she totally changes up the "normal" beliefs about vampires and adds a much deeper, human element to the leading man and it's a completely NEW way of reading paranormal/vampire romance! I fell in love with the characters (with the exception of one extremely evil vampire chick who I found myself yelling at while I read). The story elicited every emotion imaginable - at one point I would giggle, then I was in tears, and at one point I wanted to jump into the book and slap someone silly! Another band of characters that I had trouble letting go of at the end of the book. So now the hard part begins . . . waiting for Bella to finish TWO additional books (#3 in A Shade of Vampire series and #2 in the Beautiful Monster series). Good heavens, if she releases them both at the same time, my sleep schedule is going to be non-existent!

This book was a lot different than I thought it was going to be. I was not expecting the revolution from Liam. I was in complete shock, but I liked that about the book. Anyway, Liam is 23 years old and has decided to give Hollywood a break. He is going to be the new headmaster at a private drama school. Liam is a Hollywood star that the heroine, Amy, has always crushed on. Amy tried out for a part in a play (by accident) and got it. Sparks fly between this teacher and student. And then we find out that there is something more to Liam then him just being a “retired” Hollywood star.

There are other situations in the story that effect Liam and Amy’s relationship. Amy has a serious and deadly disease that has kept her inside and home schooled. I loved that Amy had Liam’s friend, Porsche, to share her disease with.

What I wanted in this book for Liam to be more alpha. He was kind of “Amy is mad at me, but I am just going to sit around and wait for her to cool off.” I wanted him to go after her, fight for her, to love her with all his being. He was not doing that. They were more apart then together. In the beginning I felt their connection, but then it lacked. I wanted more from Liam and Amy what she was upset about, it got old. She should just have gotten over it sooner. I expected her to be more mature and understanding.

Bottom line It was a different read.
I think I expected something better based on the reviews. It was okay, but the persons were bordering on being too flat/boring, the romance didn't really work for me, and it annoyed the hell out of me, that our main character was so extremely slow at just thinking the word "vampire" even though the clues were practically thrown at her. The same later with regards to his sire showing up and she's totally clueless despite having a very thorough description of her including her name.

Also, the author makes several errors with kisses happening, but then apparently it didn't, cos the characters don't remember it and stuff like that.

All I'm all am okay book, but I was not impressed - especially considering it's rating and previous reviews - and I'm not gonna bother to read neither the second book or other books from the author.
I’m a big fan of Bella Forrest’s A Shade of Vampire series. This time around I have decided to check out another one of her series called Beautiful Monster. Here are 6 reasons why you need to read this series

- The story surrounds a girl – Amy, who is terminally ill and is such a gorgeous character that your heart immediately goes out to her. She has hopes and dreams of becoming a successful actress but fears her illness will be the reason she never gets to fulfil them.
- This is an intriguing story of luck and taking advantage of an opportunity to obtain a dream.
- There is a hunky ex-movie star – Liam, who is a mystery at first but he is hiding a dark secret. However, he is seriously swoon-worthy. He has his moments of rudeness too, but once you get to understand him better it’s easy to see why.
- We encounter several forms of supernatural creatures during this series – vampires, shields, witches and ghosts. All of whom have their own agenda.
- A sweet romance between Amy and Liam that is filled with drama, love, lust and clean love scenes.
- The book has a climax that doesn’t exactly go to plan, but gives a result that is fitting for these characters.

Overall, it’s a story of hope and with an adorable character in Amy it’s well worth the read.
